Excellent video. Helped a lot. I am still unsure of one thing. When the car is in gear driving at a steady speed, is the pressure plate rubbing against the back of the friction plate? Does this not just waste power from the engine and produce heat and wear down the two plates? Why is there a friction surface between the pressure plate and friction plate? Why does the drive plate not rotate at the same speed as the friction plate to reduce friction and wear?

now heres a question for you, when i put my manual transmission 1996 VTEC accord in neutral and let the clutch fully out (hydraulic assisted), there is a slight whirring noise i can hear if im up near a wall with the windows down, I noticed this on both of my bikes but wondered what causes that and if it is a problem with the type of clutch you are explaining here.

the pilot baring on my truck is pressed into the back on the crankshaft. not the flywheel. wich can be a bitch to replace. i had the pilor baring and release baring size up at about the same time. and i drove it like that for a wile. lost 1st gear. and finger on the presure plate melted and desentegrated. when that happened it made one hell of a nasty noise. parts flying all over the inside of the bell housing. i got all new clutch flywheel and tranny for 600 bucks so its all good.

The release bearing should be always touching the dents of the pressure plate? i just replaced my clutch but sometimes i hear this sound trtrtrtrtrtrtrt (like its touching a bit the pressure plate), this happend when i release the clutch pedal,,, and if i push the pedal the sounds go off, and sometimes it does not sound at all..... i was thinking this would be a matter of adjusting the cable? vw golf 1.8t 2001 thanks very nice video!
