@theyifamily4 did you do any research before your boy got his sugery?? It will take a week- 2 weeks before his sleeping should become normal because of the swelling. There is all sorts of information from doctors out there and youre coming to youtube for your answers?

My daughter has the same thing your son had! She is 4 1/2 and will be having her tonsils and adenoids removed very soon. Our first appt withthe ENT is on Friday... I feel so bad for her when she tries to sleep at night. Im so nervous about the surgery, but I know it is the only thing that will make her better.

Respond to this video...A T&A is a pretty harsh surgery, and there will be a lot of swelling in the back of the throat for a week or so< When the swelling goes down you will notice a great improvement and hopefully complete resolution of the symptoms. Good Luck

Thank you for this video. Today, our 4-yr old son just had his surgery (removal of tonsils and adenoid) for sleep apnea. It has been about 5 hours since the surgery, and he is sleeping next to me as I type this.....I am desparate to find some answers because my sleeping son shows NO IMPROVEMENT in his sleep. None. I thought since what was causing the blockage is now removed, surely he would show immediate improvement....How long does it take to see any improvement? Thank You.

My son had sleep apnea also and was operated just last week. Now he can breathe and sleep normally, no more choking and gagging while asleep. Thanks for posting the video.

I'm very happy for you and your son. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea when I was 30. I wonder if I had sleep apnea as a child and if people knew what it was back then, if I could have been treated? Kudos to you for recognizing it early and helping your child get a good nights sleep.

See a pediatric ENT, (otolaryngologist). If the child also has a sunken chest (pectis excavatum) the symptoms will be exaggerated.

Funnily enough I'm currently sat downstairs with my sleeping 3 yr old son, who makes identical noises whilst sleeping. His mouth open, gasps, grunts, constantly moving, moments of silence, he's been like this since birth. His lack of interest in eating is worring as well. Have actually filmed footage of how his ribs 'cave-in' when inhaling and shown to his doctor only to be told his chest sounds fine. Looks like I'll be asking for a second opinion.
